Würzburg. Würzburg, a city in Bavaria, has a long tradition as a student city. 30,000 Students study at three universities: University of Würzburg, University of Music, University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt (FHWS). The gastronomy and leisure activities are oriented towards students.

Throughout the year, Würzburg can offer a program of events that is rich in variety. Part of this program are cultural events, such as concerts, for example the Mozart festival, the Würzburg Bach Days or the Africa Festival. Another part of this program are theaters, fairs and markets. Wine enthusiasts will come to appreciate the location and culinary choices of the city, for example at the wine festivals that take place every summer. Sights such as the UNESCO World Heritage Site Residence, one of the most important palaces in Europe, the Alte Mainbrücke or the fortress are integral parts of the cityscape. Würzburg is a city that is cosmopolitan but at the same time compact and has a certain personal atmosphere. 

There's also a lot of trips you can do in the vicinity of Würzburg, for example the hiking possibilities in the recreation area Naturpark Spessart or the Rhön, the UNESCO World Heritage Site Bamberg, the quaint town Rothenburg ob der Tauber, or the city of toy fairs and the famous Christmas market Nuremberg. All of the above can be reached easily and in short time by train or car.
Students of the FHWS can make use of the various offers of the universities in Würzburg such as the offers of the University Sports Center, student theater, libraries, international work groups and other leisure activities and therefore meet other students.
